This extension lets you export any Smartsheet form as a PDF directly from your browser. Whether you need a filled-in copy for your records or a blank template to share with your team, it handles everything with one click — no screenshots, no third-party tools needed.

Supported Form Layouts

Smartsheet forms can use different layouts. This extension automatically detects which one is in use and adjusts the PDF output accordingly:

How to Use

1. Export a Filled Form

Save the form exactly as you see it — with all entered values.

  1. Open a Smartsheet form page in your browser (URL starts with app.smartsheet.com/b/form/)
  2. Fill in any fields you want to appear in the PDF
  3. Click the extension icon in the Chrome toolbar to open the popup
  4. The popup shows the detected layout type and field count — verify this looks correct
  5. Click "Export Filled" — your browser's print dialog will open
  6. In the print dialog, select "Save as PDF" as the destination and click Save

2. Export a Blank Template

Export a clean, empty version of the form without any user input.

  1. Open a Smartsheet form page
  2. Click the extension icon in the Chrome toolbar
  3. Click "Export Blank"
  4. All input fields are automatically cleared, then the print dialog opens
  5. After you finish printing or cancel, the form automatically restores to its original state

3. Preview & Edit Before Export

Remove specific fields or sections before exporting — ideal for creating customized versions.

  1. Open a Smartsheet form page
  2. Click the extension icon, then click "Preview & Edit"
  3. A floating toolbar appears at the top of the page
  4. Click "🗑️ Delete" to enter delete mode — a red dashed outline will appear around fields on hover
  5. Click any field, section title, or banner element to remove it (removed items collapse, leaving no gap)
  6. Use "↩️ Undo" to restore the last removed item
  7. When ready, click "📄 Export PDF" (with values) or "📃 Export Blank" (cleared values)
  8. Click "✕ Exit" to leave preview mode and restore all removed elements

Frequently Asked Questions

Which Smartsheet form pages are supported?
This extension works on any published Smartsheet form page. The URL must start with app.smartsheet.com/b/form/. It supports all three Smartsheet form layouts: Vertical (branded), Side-by-Side (modern), and Plain (default).
Will this affect my normal browser print (Ctrl+P)?
No. The extension's export styling is only applied when you trigger it through the extension popup. Using Ctrl+P or the browser menu to print will show the page exactly as it normally appears.
Does "Export Blank" delete my form data permanently?
No. When you export a blank form, the extension temporarily clears all inputs, opens the print dialog, and then automatically restores every value after you finish or cancel. Your data is never lost.
Can I undo deletions in Preview & Edit mode?
Yes. Click "↩️ Undo" in the toolbar to restore the last removed item. You can undo multiple times in reverse order. When you exit preview mode, all removed elements are restored automatically.
The paper orientation is wrong in the print dialog. How do I fix it?
The extension automatically sets the correct paper orientation (portrait or landscape) based on the form layout. However, some browsers or printer drivers may override this. If the orientation looks wrong, manually switch it in the print dialog before saving.
The extension popup shows "unknown" layout or 0 fields. What should I do?
This can happen if the form page hasn't fully loaded yet. Try refreshing the page and waiting for it to load completely before opening the extension popup. If the issue persists, see the troubleshooting section below.
The extension doesn't work on a Smartsheet form. What should I do?
Please try the following steps:
  1. Refresh the form page and try again
  2. Open Chrome's extension management page (Chrome menu → More tools → Extensions) and click the refresh icon on this extension
  3. Make sure the page URL starts with app.smartsheet.com/b/form/

What types of form fields can be cleared for "Export Blank"?
The extension clears all standard form inputs including text fields, dropdowns, checkboxes, radio buttons, phone number fields, and text areas. After export, all values are restored to their original state.
Is my form data sent anywhere?
No. All processing happens locally in your browser. The extension does not collect, transmit, or store any of your form data on any external server. Your information stays completely private.
